WHAT IS A BUILDING PERMIT?
A permit is a license which grants legal permission to start construction of a building project.
WHY A BUILDING PERMIT?
Building permits provide the means for building officials to protect us by reducing the potential hazards of unsafe construction and therefore ensuring the public health, safety and welfare.
WHAT PROJECTS REQUIRE A BUILDING PERMIT?
The best way to be sure when a permit may be required is to check the townships fee schedule which address most issues or please feel free to call the township office if in doubt.
WHO NEEDS BUILDING CODES?
We all do, whether in our homes, offices, schools, stores, factories or places of entertainment. We rely on the safety of structures that surround us in our everyday living. The public need for protection from disaster due to fire, structural collapse and general deterioration underscores the need for more modern codes and their administration.
