2017 Township Road Program (“Program”) is underway with the paving of approximately 4 miles of roadway surfaces with work expected to begin during the week of June 26th. The roadways scheduled for resurfacing this year include:
· Booth Rd. from Meyers Rd. for .90 mile;
· Fischer Rd. from Canoe Dr. toward Manifold Rd. for .70 mile;
· Quarry Rd. from Floral Hill Dr. to Lakeview Dr. for 1 mile;
· Rankin Rd. from Zediker Station Rd. to Roupe Rd. for .70 mile; and
· Roupe Rd. from Rankin Rd. for .75 mile.
The Township will post signs along the roadways scheduled for resurfacing one week prior to the scheduled work. Depending on conditions, roadways may be closed to through traffic; local traffic will be accommodated. The following is a tentative Program schedule:
Week of June 26, 2017
Commencement of Fischer Rd. base repair work prior to resurfacing.
Week of July 10, 2017
Commencement of Booth Rd. base repair work prior to resurfacing.
July 31 through August 11, 2017
Commencement of resurfacing work on Roupe Rd., Fischer Rd. and Booth Rd.
Update: Week of July 24, 2017
During the week of August 7th through August 11th, the Public Works Department will start resurfacing work on Fischer Rd. and Roupe Rd. Additionally, it is anticipated the Township’s contractor will seal coat the following roads:
Meadows View Rd.
Munce Ridge Rd.
Resurfacing work on Quarry Rd. and Rankin Rd. will be scheduled for later this summer. Roads are selected for repair in the spring of each year based upon available resources and the condition of the road. All roadway resurfacing work is dependent on weather conditions and this tentative schedule may change. Please check back for updates throughout the summer.
I-70 from South Junction with I-79 to Rt. 519 (“Project”)
The Project is for the reconstruction of I-70 between Beau Street (Rt. 136) and the State Rt. 519 Interchange. The Project is a combination of two sections of I-70. The western section of the project (Section T10) from Beau Street to I-79 South Junction is the second phase of PennDOT’s plan to widen I-70 from two lanes to three lanes in each direction between the I-79 North and South Junctions. The Beau Street Interchange (Exit 20) at the western end of the project will remain as it exists today. The eastern portion of the project (Section W31) from I-79 South Junction to the Route 519 interchange will reconstruct the four-lane section of I-70. The contractor on this $118 million project is The Lane Construction Corporation (PennDOT’s “Contractor”). It is anticipated the Project will be completed in October 2020.
Update: Week of September 22, 2017
Work started on shoulder reconstruction, Westbound and Eastbound, temporary retaining wall (Eastbound), installing Emergency pull off. excavating for basins throughout the project, extending box culverts. Widening inside shoulders for temporary barrier for work in the median. Jack and Bore drainage across Interstate 70.
Update: Week of July 17, 2017
The Contractor is painting bridge piers with anti-graffiti paint, placing shoulder back-up, removing barrier, power washing and sealing sidewalks, and general clean-up. The Contractor has main line paving scheduled for Route 19 and Interstate 70 for the last week of July through the first two weeks of August. Motorists should take note of night time lane closures and alternate traffic patterns while paving.
Update: Week of June 26, 2017
The Contractor will commence construction activities on Lakeview Dr. on July 10, 2017. The work will take place between the Beau Street and Lakeview Dr. intersection and the Quarry Rd. and Lakeview Dr. intersection at approximately .5 mile east of the Beau St. intersection. A road closure and detour plan will be implemented at these points in order to complete the work. Local traffic will be able to maintain access to all homes and properties during this time. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day July 14, 2017. If work is unable to be performed during this time, the work will be completed the following week.
